What age groups are suitable for marriage?

I still remember quite clearly during the reception of this couple that one of the guests commented that the couple might be a little young to enter into a marriage relationship.

Mr and Mrs Tsao were in their mid-20 when the marriage took place. They were obviously well and above the legal age limits as specified under the Marriage Act 1961.

Isn’t it quite fascinating that we sometime wonder what would be the perfect age for marriage? In the old days, one would be considered as “way out of norm” if they were not married in their 18 and 20. In today’s environment, this bar would have been lifted up to around 27 or 28 or even higher for male adults.

Do I think Mr and Mrs Tsao were too young or immature for marriage? Absolutely not! In fact, I could tell that they were both ready to take their relationship to the next level first time when I met them. I was impressed by the maturity both of them shown and expressed to each other, even though one of them was in the final University year.

Research generally shows that a healthy couple relationship can be measured based on the level of support or buy-in they receive from their family members and friends. Based on the turnout during the signing ceremony and reception, I have no doubt that the couple received a lot of blessings from people they care the most! This was reflected through some of the family’s speeches on how proud they were of them and that family will always be their backbone when life becomes tough.

There are so many good qualities about this couple that I like. They are so likeable, friendly, cute, and more importantly I think the bride has one of the best smiles ever! This is one of the registration of marriage that was heartfelt and teary. Almost half of the guests had their eyes wet watching the couple sharing the vows together – Indeed, this placed me in a rather challenging role as I had to keep the atmosphere lively and make them laugh and happy!

But the return was generous, as I was invited to stay over for their premium high tea celebration. What a lovely gesture! I must say that the high tea that the Peninsula Tea Gardens offered was just beautiful and relaxing by the river.
